Tailcone aft top skin riveting

Hours: 5 Manual Ref: Page 10-22 steps 2 & 3; Page 10-23 steps 1 through 5; Page 10-24 step 3 Partner: Bill Michael

Getting back into airplane manufacturing mode, I had my dad come over to help me rivet the aft top skin onto the tailcone. It took a couple hours, and l did have to drill out a few rivets, but all-in-all, it went fairly smoothly. After a “brief” visit to LZU I was back in the garage to finish up a few steps that I could do without disturbing the neighbors too much. I estimate about 25 more rivets, and I’ll have completed the tailcone steps!

Just for the fun of it, I put the horizontal stabilizer and the vertical stabilizer on the tailcone to see how it looks. It really is starting to look like an airplane. I don’t plan on doing the actual attachment steps until I take the whole thing to the airport for final assembly.
